What is BioThane Material®?

BioThane® is a durable, flexible, and waterproof material made from polyester webbing coated in PVC or TPU. It’s known for being strong, easy to clean, and long-lasting, making it perfect for dog gear like collars and leashes. It has qualities similar to leather but is vegan and comes in all the colours of the rainbow!

How Do You Paint the BioThane®?

We hand-splatter the BioThane® with a paint specifically designed for this purpose. The paint is durable and waterproof!

How do the Gems Stay On?

The gems we use are rivets, that are inserted through the BioThane® with a small hole and are held on with a metal backing so they are secure. Although the gems are durable, it is possible for a gem to occasionally come loose and fall out. If this happens, we will replace the gem for you (shipping costs are your responsibility). Because the gems have a metal back, dogs with longer and fine fur may have their fur get wrapped around the rivets (if you’re concerned about this, doing a double layered collar with the rivets on the top layer or a painted collar will be better options).

How Do I Order?

All pre-made items are posted on the website and available for purchase. Find a size and style you like and you can order it through the website. We also do a limited amount of custom orders and these can be ordered by reaching out to us by email.

How to Properly Fit a Collar?

Use a soft measuring tape to measure around your dog’s neck where the collar will sit. Make sure the tape is snug but not tight, leaving about two finger’s width of space between the tape and your dog’s neck. If your dog gets haircuts regularly and the length of their fur changes, consider this in your measurements.

How to Care for My Gear?

BioThane® gear is very easy to clean! Simply wipe it down with a damp cloth, or rinse it with water to remove dirt or debris. For more stubborn stains, you can use mild soap and water (avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials). Please note that black hardware and nickel-plated hardware will show wear and tear and the paint will chip with time which is unavoidable. For silver and gold hardware, we only use stainless steel and solid brass and these will not chip (the brass may tarnish with time but this can be cleaned off). When not in use, your gear should be kept dry to reduce the risk of rust.

Safety and Warranty

We stand behind the quality of our gear and provide a one-year limited warranty on all products. If your product shows signs of damage due to manufacturing issues, we will replace it. It is your responsibility to check your gear regularly for any signs of wear and tear and it should always be used under supervision. The warranty does not include regular wear and tear on the hardware. Although durable, BioThane® is not bite or chew-proof and this type of damage will not be covered under warranty.

Processing Time

Although there are two of us, Juneau mostly provides big picture oversight and is the face of the company but doesn’t help much with daily operations. Pre-made orders are usually available for pick-up/shipping within a few days. We try to complete custom orders as quickly as possible, usually within two to three weeks, although there may be exceptions (if we expect there to be a delay we will let you know).

How Do I Use My Gift Card?

While we do offer gift cards, we are a small business and don’t have a fancy system for this. If you have a gift card, please email us at ‘regalcaninekw@gmail.com’ and we will provide you with instructions for how to claim it!

We can arrange porch pick-up (in Kitchener, ON) or shipping across Canada and the U.S. (shipping costs are extra). Select your preferred option at check out.
